Thomas Oxley MD PhD is a neurosurgeon-turned CEO of Synchron. Synchron, a DARPA backed company, is the only implantable Brain-Computer Interface in clinical trials. The Stentrode is implanted via the jugular vein into the motor cortex for patients with severe paralysis. The system wirelessly streams the participant’s motor intention through a propriety API utilising an HID USB standard for hands-free mouse and keyboard control over standard operating systems including Windows and MacOS.
